What you’ll do

Meet ten minutes early at the Porta Marina Superiore entrance, where the guide waits with a green sign. If you’ve chosen the option with transport, a minivan picks you up in Naples in the morning from the designated pickup point. With tickets already in hand, you walk straight in, no ticket office and no queues.

The guided walk lasts two hours and takes you through the city buried in AD 79: the streets, theatres, temples, bath complexes and houses, with the guide describing the daily life of the people who lived there. It’s in English. At the end you leave by the same entrance; if you have transport, the minivan takes you back to Naples.

Who it’s for

For anyone getting to Pompeii under their own steam, by train or car, who just wants the guided visit without a full-day package. Suitable for all fitness levels, and pushchairs are allowed. The guide speaks English: if you don’t follow it well, pick a different tour. Private groups can ask for the dedicated option.

Local tip

Arrive ten minutes early, as the group leaves on time. Bring water, a hat and closed shoes: the streets are stone and shade is scarce.
