Spanish Quarter street art and Maradona mural tour, underground option

What you’ll do

You start in Piazzetta Matilde Serao, just off Via Toledo, with a ten-minute introduction. Then you enter the Quartieri from Via Sant'Anna di Palazzo and walk for about twenty minutes past the first murals, while the guide explains how an area with a bad reputation became a creative workshop.

The heart of the tour is inside the Quartieri, in stretches of ten to twenty-five minutes, among large and small works, legends and anecdotes about life in the lanes. The stop at the Maradona mural lasts ten minutes, with a short break right after. The walking part ends on Via Toledo.

If you've chosen the option, you carry on with a guided hour in Napoli Sotterranea (underground Naples), priority entry included: tunnels, cisterns of the old aqueduct and chambers carved into the tuff rock, also used as shelters in the Second World War. This part costs extra and is available only in Italian and English, so if you book in Spanish or French you can't add it.

For anyone who wants to see the Quartieri Spagnoli with someone who can explain them, for street art fans and for football fans on a Maradona pilgrimage. 94 per cent of Italian participants gave it full marks. Less suited to anyone who doesn't enjoy walking uphill through narrow, crowded lanes.
