What you’ll do
Meet at Molo Beverello in Naples. The hydrofoil to Procida is included and takes forty minutes. On arrival you board the boat with the skipper and start by circling the island: Marina Corricella, the fishermen’s houses, the little coves. Then you head for Ischia, sailing along its coast without landing, past volcanic cliffs and hidden inlets.
Along the way there are swim stops in clear water, with the boat anchored in a bay. At some point lunch is served: fresella (a crunchy Neapolitan rusk topped with tomatoes), pasta and fruit prepared on board, with spumante, prosecco or champagne and soft drinks included. In the afternoon you return to Procida, and from there the hydrofoil takes you back to Molo Beverello, another forty minutes. Seven hours in total.
Who it’s for
For anyone who wants a real day at sea, not a ferry crossing: swims, lunch with wet feet and the islands seen from the water. Works well solo or as a couple, as the group is small. Not for anyone prone to seasickness: the route changes with the waves and the boat moves. Under-18s must be accompanied.
Local tip
Wear your swimsuit and bring a towel, sunscreen and a camera: there are no towels on board. No heels. If the sea is rough, the skipper changes course to find sheltered bays: that’s not a flaw, it’s the whole point of going on a small boat. Hotel transfers can be requested separately.
