Events in Naples, October 2026: concerts, ruins by night

October in Naples is a month of its own. Daytime temperatures still reach 24°C, the sea is swimmable until mid-month and the Gaiola beach is still full on Sundays. Meanwhile the city goes back to the Neapolitans: schools have restarted, the queues for the Veiled Christ get shorter, and the tables outside stay outside. It's the best time for the things you put off in summer because it's too hot.

Below are the October 2026 events we've checked one by one, with date, time, venue and price. They're grouped by type, so you can find what you need without reading the lot. The page is updated as new dates come out, so check back.

Concerts and shows in Naples in October 2026

The month opens with the last three nights of Biagio Antonacci Unplugged at the Teatro Grande in Pompeii: 2, 3 and 4 October at 9pm, tickets online. These are acoustic concerts inside the ancient theatre of the ruins, with his familiar songs rearranged in stripped-back versions and the audience a few metres from the stage. These are the final dates.

On Sat 3 October at 9pm the Teatro Palapartenope stages Maradona, lo spettacolo: the story of Diego in Naples told through music and words, in the Fuorigrotta theatre a short walk from the stadium that bears his name. Tickets online.

The ruins by night and museums open late

The Serate nella Grande Pompei (evenings at the Pompeii sites) continue every Friday and Saturday until 10 October, 7.30pm-11.30pm, €7 per site. At Pompeii there are two routes: the one from the Amphitheatre, with the plaster casts in the Palestra Grande and the house of Giulia Felice, returns on 10 October; the other starts from the Villa dei Misteri with a shuttle to Villa Regina at Boscoreale. The walks at Villa San Marco and Villa Arianna are free. At night the ruins are something else: dark, few people, streets lit in patches.

In the city, MANN (the National Archaeological Museum) answers with MANNight: on the four Thursdays in October, the 1st, 8th, 15th and 22nd, the museum stays open 7pm-10.30pm with live music and contemporary art among the ancient statues. Tickets €10. In the evening the rooms empty out and you can take in the Farnese collection at your own pace, with no tour groups in front of the Farnese Bull.

Also at Pompeii, during normal opening hours and included in the ticket, Philip Colbert's pop-art lobsters are dotted among the Roman houses until 30 November. They divide opinion: some find them brilliant, others out of place. You can make up your own mind without spending a cent more.

Outdoors: walks, the grape harvest and the moat of Castel Sant'Elmo

The first weekend of October is packed. On Sat 3 at 4pm there's Bosco in Rosa, a four-kilometre walk at your own pace along the avenues of the Real Bosco di Capodimonte, the former royal park, in a pink T-shirt. Proceeds go to the Santobono children's hospital. Fine with pushchairs and children; registration is online.

On Sun 4 October, 9.30am-5pm, Vendemmiamo la Catalanesca takes you into the vineyards on Vesuvius where the catalanesca grape grows, once eaten only as a table grape and now made into wine. You pick in the morning, then there's a tasting and lunch among the vines. The price is announced by the organiser.

Until 4 October the Pessoa Luna Park is also open in the moat of Castel Sant'Elmo, at Via Tito Angelini 20/A in the Vomero district. It's the first time the castle moat has opened to the public: Thursday to Sunday, 5.30pm-12.30am, there are concerts, DJ sets, open-air cinema, theatre, games, chess and long shared tables. Entry €2.50, free for under-18s and over-65s. The first weekend of the month is your last chance.

Free, but book ahead

With children

Every Saturday morning until 19 December there's Giro Giro Napoli: guided tours, workshops and activities for children in the city's museums and cultural sites, free. It's the simplest way to take them to a museum without hearing “when are we going home?”

Bosco in Rosa on 3 October is also designed for families: four flat kilometres, your own pace, pushchairs welcome. And the Pessoa Luna Park in the moat of Castel Sant'Elmo, until 4 October, is free for under-18s: games, chess and open-air cinema in a place that used to be off-limits. Exhibitions to see before they close

Top of the list is Maria Lai, «Essere è tessere» (“to be is to weave”), at the Museo Madre on Via Settembrini: it closes on 12 October. It's the most complete retrospective ever held in the city, sixty years of threads, fabrics, looms and sewn books, right up to the collective works that involved entire villages in Sardinia. It's worth going just to see stitching on canvas turn into drawing and storytelling at the same time. Open 10am-7.30pm, Sundays until 8pm, closed Tuesdays. Tickets €8, reduced €4.

You have longer for Philip Colbert at Pompeii, on until 30 November, but if you're going to the ruins for one of the October evenings you might as well see that too.
