What you’ll do

The minibus picks you up at your hotel or at one of the pickup points in the city and reaches Sorrento in about an hour. Here you have seventy free minutes: the old town is small, the giant lemons in the gardens are the thing to see and you can taste limoncello in the shops along the main street. Then you set off along the Amalfi Coast road, which runs along the cliffs high above the sea.

Another hour on the road and you reach Positano: first a short stop for photos from above, then seventy-five minutes on foot among the steps and the beach. From there it’s another hour of bends to Amalfi. Amalfi is the longest stop, an hour and a half, with the cathedral and the little harbour a few steps from where you get off.

In Amalfi you have a choice: if you booked the lunch option, you sit down at an arranged restaurant; if not, you explore on your own. You can also add a boat trip along the coast, optional and paid, which can be booked on the spot if there’s availability. The drive back to Naples takes about an hour and a quarter.

Who it’s for

For anyone with just one day who wants to see all three towns without stress: the minibus does the work, you walk and look. Also good for solo travellers and couples who prefer a small group. Not suitable for people with limited mobility or wheelchair users: these towns are made of steps. No pushchairs or suitcases on board.

Local tip

Comfortable shoes, seriously: Positano is all steps. If you want lunch at a restaurant, choose that option when you book, as it can’t be added later. The boat trip in Amalfi is worth it when the sea is calm. Check your email the day before for the pickup time: the driver waits ten minutes, no more.
