Around town

The tribute to the Immacolata spire in piazza del Gesù

  • Tuesday 8 December
  • Around midday, after mass (2026 time to be confirmed)
  • Piazza del Gesù Nuovo, Old Town
  • Free

Every 8 December the fire brigade climbs the spire's ladder platform right to the top, thirty metres up, and lays the roses the mayor hands over in the square between the Madonna's arms. It lasts half an hour and is one of the most Neapolitan scenes of the year. Stand on the side of the Gesù church to watch the ladder go up; afterwards, a coffee in piazza San Domenico.
