What you’ll do
You start from the Galleria Umberto I, a few steps from Via Toledo. The first stops set the scene: what the kings and queens of Naples ate and how those dishes made their way onto everyone’s table. You walk and stop at places in the centre, each for a different tasting, while the guide tells the story.
Then you head up into the Quartieri Spagnoli, where the guide shares the neighbourhood’s legends and traditions between stops. This is where the heartier part comes: a plate of Neapolitan-style pasta, with bread for the scarpetta, mopping up every last drop of sauce, and a pizza margherita made the way it is here.
