What you’ll do

You meet in Piazza Garibaldi and set off: an hour and a half on the road to Amalfi, the longest stop of the day. You have two and a half hours free for the Cathedral of Sant’Andrea, the squares, the shops and a coffee by the harbour. If you like, you can go as far as the Grotta dello Smeraldo (the Emerald Grotto), but time it carefully so you don’t miss the minibus.

Three quarters of an hour of bends and you reach Positano, with an hour to walk down to the beach between the cliffside houses and boutiques. Then another forty-five minutes to Sorrento, for an hour among the lemon groves and the centre, with a taste of limoncello. After that you head back to Naples, an hour and a half to the starting point.

Who it’s for

For anyone who wants to see all three towns in a day without crowds around them: thirteen people is a minibus, not a coach party. Good if you don’t have a car and don’t want to drive the coast road. The pace is brisk and in some places time flies, so it’s not the choice for anyone who wants to spend hours on the beach.

Local tip

Get to the meeting point a little early; the group is small and they won’t wait long. Amalfi is the longest stop, so that’s where to have a leisurely lunch. Positano is shorter: take your photo from above and head straight down. Book ahead, as places sell out.
