What you’ll do

The driver picks you up at your hotel, where the service is available, or at the meeting point near the station, and you set off towards the Sorrento peninsula. The first stop is short, a quarter of an hour at a viewpoint for photos, before joining the coast road. Meanwhile the tour leader shares local stories and legends.

In Amalfi you have an hour and a half free: the Cathedral of Sant’Andrea, the squares, the harbour. The optional half-hour shared boat trip leaves from here, to see villas and cliffs from the sea. Then you climb to Ravello for an hour and a quarter: gardens, terraces and a calmer atmosphere. The drive back to Naples rounds off the day.

Who it’s for

For anyone who has already seen Positano or prefers the quieter side of the coast: Ravello is less crowded and has views no other town can match. Groups can reach thirty people, so it’s not an intimate tour. Not recommended for anyone with back problems, pregnant women or people with heart conditions: the road is all bends.

Local tip

Choose the boat option when you book if you want to see Amalfi from the sea: half an hour is enough. In Ravello bring water and a hat, as you walk uphill and there’s little shade. Lunch isn’t included: you have more time in Amalfi, so that’s the place to eat. Confirm your pickup time beforehand, as it differs from the departure time.

How long is it and where does it start?

Eight hours in all. Pickup is door to door where possible, and the exact time is confirmed the day before. For last-minute bookings the only pickup point is near the station, in Piazza Garibaldi. The driver waits ten minutes for latecomers, then leaves.

The tour leader speaks English, Italian, Spanish, French or Portuguese, depending on the date. The tour may run in two languages on the same day. It’s a shared group of up to thirty participants; in low season departure is confirmed with at least four people, in high season with two.
