Naples street food tour of the old town with a local guide
Old town
Tastings along the way + spritz and limoncello
With tasting · 1.5 hours
An hour and a half at the table with a sommelier who works in wine and teaches it through games: you taste grapes born in Campania, play a team wine trivia quiz and bust a few myths along the way. The meeting point is Piazza del Gesù Nuovo, in the old town. Three bruschette and taralli or crisps come with the wine. Groups are capped at twelve and the rating is almost perfect, 4.9 from over fifty reviews.

Start
Piazza del Gesù Nuovo
You meet in Piazza del Gesù Nuovo, five minutes on foot from Dante station on metro line 1, and walk together to the tasting venue. The sommelier introduces Campania's native grapes, where they come from and how to recognise them, in plain words and with no technical sheets to learn by heart.
Then you taste: each wine is scored with a method the sommelier explains at the start, and in between there is the wine trivia quiz, played in teams, which usually gets the table going. You also talk about common myths, from colour to glassware, and pick up a few useful words for ordering in a restaurant or wine shop.
Three bruschette and taralli or crisps arrive with the glasses, plus water. An hour and a half in all. Under-18s are welcome: they get water or juice instead of wine and share the same food, so the whole family can join in.
For anyone who wants to understand Campania's wines without the formality of a classic tasting, as a couple, with friends or with family. It works well as a first evening in Naples, before dinner. It is not a meal: the bruschette go with the wine, they don't replace dinner. The venue is wheelchair accessible.
Local tip
Book an early slot and keep dinner for afterwards: you are a short walk from Port'Alba and Via dei Tribunali, where the pizza is. Note down the wines you like, the sommelier will help you find them in a wine shop. Not recommended during pregnancy.
