Naples pasta class at Giuseppe’s home: three pastas, bay view

A dinner at home, not a cookery school: Giuseppe, your host, opens his house overlooking the Bay of Naples to a group of no more than ten and teaches three fresh pastas: Neapolitan scialatielli, ravioli and gnocchi. Then everyone sits down together and eats what they’ve made, with wine included and the bay in front of you. Three hours in all, in Italian or English.

What you’ll do

The address of the house arrives after you book. You arrive, meet your host and the other guests, ten at most, and head into the kitchen. You start with the doughs: scialatielli, the short, thick pasta typical of Naples and the Amalfi Coast, rolled and cut by hand.

Then the ravioli, with the sheet to roll out and the filling to seal in, and finally the gnocchi, which look easy and aren’t. With ten people at most, everyone gets close attention, and you work in a home kitchen, not a workshop kitted out for groups.

When the three pastas are ready you cook them, lay the table and have dinner together, with wine included, in front of the window over the bay. It’s the part that makes the evening: eating what you’ve made in a real Neapolitan home, with the kind of view you usually pay for in a restaurant.

Who it’s for

For couples and small groups of friends who’d rather have an evening at someone’s home than a production-line class. Good for solo travellers too: with ten people at the table, conversation flows. If you want a diploma, a chef’s hat and a certificate, look elsewhere; here dinner is what counts. Three hours, so best in the evening with nothing planned afterwards.

Local tip

Book it for the evening, so the view over the bay changes colour during dinner, and book ahead: ten places go fast. The exact address comes after confirmation, so you can’t plan the journey beforehand; still, allow time to get there. Arrive on time and on an empty stomach.

What’s included

Dinner + wine + three kinds of pasta.

Price, availability and details come straight from Viator and are kept up to date. If you book through us, we get a small commission; it costs you nothing extra.
