What you’ll do

You leave Naples from the cruise terminal or another agreed point and head by minivan towards the coast. The first stop is the viewpoint over Positano: a short stop to look down on the coloured houses tumbling towards the sea and take a few photos, without going down into the village.

Then Sorrento, with an hour and a half to yourself. Piazza Tasso, Corso Italia with its shops, the cloister of San Francesco and the view over the bay from the terraces. The limoncello tasting included in the price happens here too. Lunch isn’t included: everyone sorts themselves out, with a meeting time set by the driver.

In the afternoon, two hours in Pompeii. The entry ticket isn’t included, and there’s only a guide inside the ruins if you book that option; otherwise you visit at your own pace. The order of the stops may change depending on traffic or the group’s preferences. At the end you head back to Naples.

Who it’s for

For anyone who wants to see a lot in a short time in a small vehicle without worrying about timetables, especially cruise passengers and families: the tour is wheelchair accessible with advance notice, pushchairs are allowed and child seats are available. Less suited to anyone wanting an in-depth visit to Pompeii without paying for the guide option.

Local tip

Consider the option with a guide at Pompeii: without one, two hours in the ruins with no explanations don’t give you much. Buy your ticket for the ruins in advance so you don’t lose time. In Sorrento, an hour and a half is enough for a walk or a quick lunch, not both at a relaxed pace.

How long is it and where does it start?

About eight hours. Pickup is available at the Stazione Marittima, the Naples cruise terminal, or at other points in the city; for cruise passengers departure is at 8am, depending on the ship’s schedule. The port of Salerno is only for cruise passengers.
