Naples street food tour of the old town with a local guide
Old town
Tastings along the way + spritz and limoncello
Small groups · 3 hours
Three hours on foot in the old town, in a group of no more than twelve, eating what Neapolitans actually eat on the street. This isn’t a parade of tiny nibbles: there are at least four stops, a drink is included, and by the end you’ve had a proper meal. Your guide is a local who explains every dish, where it comes from and why it’s eaten the way it is. The meeting point is Piazza Dante.

Start
Piazza Dante
You meet in Piazza Dante and head straight into the lanes of the old town. The route mixes walking and stops: each one is a place chosen for a specific dish, from the great classics of Neapolitan street food to everyday things tourists usually don’t know about. Between bites you talk about history and the habits of the neighbourhood.
There are at least four stops, and one drink is included. The group is small, twelve people at most, so you don’t wait long at the counter and you can ask questions. The tour is always run in English and Italian together; other languages can be requested when booking, but aren’t guaranteed.
After about three hours you finish with a full stomach and a mental map of the old town that no printed guide gives you: the places where you ate stay with you, and you can find them again on your own over the next few days, perhaps at lunchtime, when the queue is made of Neapolitans.
For anyone short on time who wants to get Neapolitan food in one afternoon, and for solo travellers: in a group of twelve you bond quickly. Good for couples and friends. If you struggle with three hours of walking on old paving stones or have food intolerances to manage, think it through and flag it in advance. Not designed for anyone who has already had lunch.
Local tip
Go on an empty stomach and in comfortable shoes: the old town’s lanes are stone and up-and-down. Piazza Dante sits where Via Toledo meets the decumani, the old town’s ancient main streets, so Spaccanapoli and Via dei Tribunali pair well before or after. With twelve places per tour, book a few days ahead, especially at weekends.
At least 4 stops + one drink.
Price, availability and details come straight from Viator and are kept up to date. If you book through us, we get a small commission; it costs you nothing extra.
There are at least four stops, each with a different taste of Neapolitan street food, plus one drink. Altogether it adds up to a full meal, not a snack. The guide is included and the group never goes over twelve people. The tour lasts about three hours.
Always in English and Italian, bilingually, so Neapolitans and visitors can share the same group. Other languages can be requested when booking, with no guarantee. The starting point is Piazza Dante, in the old town.
Yes, cancellation is free up to 24 hours before the start, with a full refund. If you have allergies or don’t eat certain foods, say so when you book, before the tour is organised.
